For all of you who don’t know Pay Money to My Pain, I feel the need to explain the story behind this collaboration between them and Taka.
Pay Money to My Pain are a well known band in Japan, and they’ve influenced many, but not only, Japanese artists. Among them are ONE OK ROCK, most notably Taka. K, the vocalist of PTP, and Taka were friends, and I’m sure K though of ONE OK ROCK as one of the bands that would represent the future of Rock in Japan.
Sadly, K has passed away in December 2012, due to a heart condition, when they were already recording their 4th album “Gene”.
So, to finish the album, and pay homage to an amazing vocalist and human being, the others members of PTP invited some of K’s friends to write and sing songs for that unfinished album. Crossfaith, Masato (coldrain), Hazuki (lynch), Jesse (Rize), KYONO (WAGDUG FUTURISTIC UNITY) and Taka (ONE OK ROCK) were invited.
Every artist did it’s best to remember their friend, and as a result, the album turned out amazing. It’s an amazing album by itself, because we can hear the last incredible songs K recorded, but it’s simply beautiful as an homage… Please try it, it’s totally worth it. :)
K and PTP works will live on through their friends and fans. Their music will live on, and will still be discovered and influence lots of people around the world. That’s the most important thing an artist can leave behind… He will never be forgotten. :)
